Recount Text

Purpose 

To tell the readers what happened in the past through a sequence of events.      

Generic Structures

• Orientation (who were involved in the story, when and where)
• Event (tell what happened in a chronological order)
• Evaluation (comments of the writer / speaker about the experience)
• Reorientation (the conclusion of the experience, optional) 

Language Features 

• The use of nouns and pronouns (David, we, his)
• The use of action verbs (went, spent, played)
• The use of past tense (we went to the zoo last week)
• The use of time conjunctions ( and, but, after, finally)
• The use of adverbs and adverbs of phrases (in my house, two days ago, slowly, carefully)
• The use of adjectives (beautiful, sunny, old)
